Yoga, AYUSH and wellness

Yoga became an export before it became accessible. A month at a wellness retreat costs more than most Indian families earn in a year, while the traditions it draws on came from exactly those communities.

Our centres run free morning classes open to anyone, therapeutic programmes for specific conditions on referral, and residential Ayurveda and Panchakarma care at a fraction of commercial rates.

We also train teachers. A certified instructor from a small town who stays and teaches there does more lasting good than any number of visiting workshops.

How the programme works

  • Free daily community classes, no registration or fee
  • Therapeutic yoga on medical referral for specific conditions
  • Residential Ayurveda and Panchakarma at subsidised rates
  • Teacher training so instructors come from the communities they serve

What your donation buys

  • ₹3,000A month of free daily classes at one community centre
  • ₹25,000One person's full teacher-training certification
  • ₹80,000Equipment and setup for a new community yoga hall

Questions about this programme

Do I need to be fit or experienced to join a class?

No. Community classes are mixed-ability and include chair-based practice for people who cannot get to the floor. Instructors are trained to adapt for age, injury and pregnancy.

Are the Ayurveda treatments supervised by qualified practitioners?

Yes. All AYUSH treatment is delivered by practitioners registered under the relevant council, and we do not offer any therapy as a substitute for medical treatment where medical treatment is indicated.
